Fix for this particular error can be quite simple. You should go to Services by typing:

services.msc

in Run Console (Start -> Run). In the services tab locate service called Windows Driver Foundation – User-mode Driver Framework depending on what OS you have. See the picture below:

windows driver foundation disable

Reboot your PC and check if error exist on logging in.

Other method is to disable all additional services running on startup and check which one causes it by turning them one one by one. But this will take lots of time and reboots if you have a lot of third-party services. You can do this using small instruction:

1) Go to Start -> Run and type:

msconfig

This will open “System Configuration Utility”. Go to Services tab and you will see all services running on startup.

system configuration utility services tab

After putting a check near “Hide all Microsoft Services” you will see only services that are not essential for running Windows (they can be essential for running some applications you installed though). In my case on clean virtual machine Windows XP I have only 3 additional services. You can have more.

system configuration utility services disable additional

Next thing you do is checking all remaining Services and click on Disable all. Reboot. If you won’t see an error – you can turn on this services one by one until you will receive error after reboot again. Using this manual you can determine which service causes it and learn about this service in Google. After this you can remove application that install this service or wait for the new version/update.

Another wide-spread error have this code:

The instruction at 0x71ab6a55 referenced memory at “0x71ab6a55.” The memory could not be “written”.

99% this is malware issue. To check this you can download Hijackthis diagnostic tool from TrenMicro and perform a scan. Typical signs of infection that causes above error message are:

F2 – REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,C:\WINDOWS\system32\sdra64.exe
O4 – HKLM\..\Run: [{random name}] rundll32.exe “C:\WINDOWS\{random name}.dll”,Startup
O4 – HKCU\..\Policies\Explorer\Run: [svcho] C:\WINDOWS\svcho.exe

In this case you should scan your PC with quality antivirus like Stronghold Antivirus or Combofix. Reboot your PC and check if error exists. Normally it will disappear after malware removal.
